Intergeneric crosses between Erycina pusilla and three cultivars of Tolumnia were conducted. The percentages of fruit set for flowers in all combinations of reciprocal crosses ranged from 6.3%-65%. Only a few seeds developed in the fruit, however. Hybrid seeds from Tolumnia cultivars as female parents germinated more than those from Erycina pusilla as female parent. Only those hybrid seeds harvested 12 weeks after pollination could germinate. Seed germination increased when1-Naphthaleneacetic acid was added in the medium. The hybrid offsprings flowered 14 months after seed sowing and they showed characteristics of both parents. We have successfully established the technique of cross hybridization between Erycina pusilla and Tolumnia cultivars and that to cultivate the hybrid offsprings.
