摘要

本文是以「通史性」的台灣佛教主題論述，透過「通識視野下」的觀察角度，試圖對台灣本土佛教近三百多年來（1662-2008）的發展與變革、各階段的分期與文化特色、相應的出家教團與在家教派之互動、衝突和轉型、乃至戰後以及解嚴以來特殊現代化的佛教發展現象和其社會功能等，都進行扼要和清楚地系統性說明。所以，本文可以視為是一篇台灣本土佛教近三百多年來（1662-2008）的發展與變革史的「導論」，而非特定台灣佛教史專題的精深探索或相關文獻的廣泛背景分析。

Based on the general history perspective, this paper attempts to explore the development, transformation, culture and the conflict between clergy Buddhism and home Buddhism of Taiwanese Buddhism, in the more than 300 years of history (1662-2008), and devise a systematic description of the modern Buddhist special development and its social function, in the postwar period and the post-martial law period Taiwan.This paper can be regarded as an introductions to the history of development and transformation of Taiwanese Buddhism, rather than a thematic deep exploration of it.
