This paper was reported by the personnel of an obstetrics and gynecology ward. In the second quarter of 2016, the rate of breastfeeding had dropped from 41.3% to 37.8%, significantly less than that of peer hospitals (54.3%). A data analysis revealed that the rate of pure breastfeeding at postpartum during hospitalization was relatively low. Further examination revealed that breastfeeding guidance at postpartum from nursing personnel has been inconsistent, resulting in a drop in postpartum women's level of satisfaction toward nursing guidance. This study has adopted a multimedia audiovisual CD tutorial, breastfeeding consultation hotline, a revision of the breastfeeding nursing guidelines, and innovative triangular signs displaying mnemonic phrases for breastfeeding education in order to improve the quality of nursing care in breastfeeding. The results revealed that the rate of pure breastfeeding at postpartum during hospitalization has improved from 37.8% to 48.6%, the accuracy of breastfeeding guidance from nursing personnel has increased from 61.0% to 92.0%, and postpartum women's level of satisfaction with nursing guidance has boosted from 3.8% up to 4.5%. The measures implemented in this study offer many benefits for postpartum women and their infants considerably.
