This article researches literature in the policy development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Taiwan, including the development of TCM and the policy, business and research of TCM nursing. People in Taiwan tend to seek medical treatment in a combination of western medicine, TCM and customary folklore therapy. Factors related to the increased use of TCM include its advancement, inclusion in medical insurance reimbursement and consumer demands for it. Nursing education in Taiwan has been based mainly on western medicine. There is a need to include TCM and related nursing knowledge and skills in preparatory and continuing education.
