This article describes a nursing experience of a depressive disorder patient who exhibited suicidal behavior. Subjective and objective data were collected through observations and interviews during the nursing interactions. Nursing diagnosis results include potential suicide, disabled personal coping and disabled family coping. The interventions included establishment of a therapeutic interpersonal relationship between nurse and the patient, applying cognitive behavior therapy such as doing homework assignments, recording a list of non-functional thoughts, assisting patient with new skills to manage stress. The patient was not able to eliminate negative thinking process completely during hospitalization; however, he was able to demonstrate positive thinking that would reduce his suicidal thoughts.
