Long-term care insurance is an important topic in Taiwan. It was first planned to be implemented in 2011, postponed to 2013, and recently announced to be implemented in 2016. Reasons for this delay are not only because it affects multiple disciplines but also requires extensive academic research and policy review. For better understanding and generating thought and resolution, this article introduces the meaning and intention of the proposed long-term care insurance; compares it with current long-term care policy, and its complexity and barriers.
