The article discusses the direct care of a cancer patient with bone marrow metastasis. Low back pain has been a common problem among us; however, it contains a hidden risk of spinal tumor due to cancer metastasis. The tumor oppression eroded spine is a symbol of advanced stage of cancer that results in pain, sports injury and the crisis of pathological fracture. In case of metastatic spine tumors, treatment should focus on the original cancer, assessment of neurologic functions and prevention of pathologic fractures. The complete treatment team's support to patients and their family may help them facing the diagnosis, treatment and loss. Nurses have an important role in guiding the patients and their families to participate during the course of treatment, to assist and prepare them to face the diagnosis, to provide information on pain management and the prevention of pathological fracture. Organized palliative care and supports will improve the quality of life of patients with metastatic spine tumor.
