The purpose of this study was to understand the leadership patterns of elite national female basketball team coaches. 306 high school female basketball athletes were involved as subjects. 'Basketball athletes Questionnaire' was used for investigation. Data were analyzed by description statistics, one-way ANOVA. The result revealed as following: The athlete-perceived leadership patterns of the coaches included authoritarian leadership, moral leadership and benevolence leadership. Significant differences were found among athletes with different background (age, duration as a team member, duration as an athlete, duration as a student) in perceiving coaches' moral leadership (p<.05). Different perceptions of coaches' authoritarian leadership were found among athletes with different duration as team members and different duration as students (p<.001). Different perceptions of coaches' benevolence leadership were found among athletes with different duration as athletes and different duration as students (p<.01).
