A two round Delphi study was undertaken to explore the factors determining the attractiveness of a forest-based tourism destination. The twenty-three determinants of attractiveness under four major themes, namely attractions, access, amenities, and ancillary service were identified by a panel of industry, government and academic experts. The results indicated that the uniqueness of natural landscapes is one of the main reasons to attract tourists. Environmental management is perhaps the most effective way to achieve sustainability. However, due to remote location, the provision of parking must be sufficient to accommodate visitors driving their own cars. Finally, direction/information signs whose purpose is to guide visitors must be clear and easily understood in order to create a high quality forest experience.
