國際觀光飯店自設洗衣部門得失之初探

An Exploratory Study on the Necessity of On-Site Laundry in International Tourist Hotels

摘要


服務業掌握核心技術,並將非核心技術外包,是目前發展的趨勢。主管國際觀光飯店之交通部觀光局規定國際觀光飯店得酌設洗衣部門;但為掌控客衣及布巾清潔與清洗效率,大多數國際觀光飯店仍設有洗衣房。現代社會分工精細,專業洗滌公司無論效率或是清潔的要求,皆非往昔所能夠比擬;加以洗衣部門並非飯店主要核心技術或營收來源,因此近來逐漸浮現飯店自設洗衣房必要性及得失之討論,以及外包此項業務之可能性。本研究訪談五家飯店洗衣部門主管,瞭解目前主要旅館相關業務負責人對洗衣房自設或外包的態度。訪談的結果顯示,受訪者一致認為理想上旅館應自設洗衣房,其主要理由為品質易於維護、布巾壽命較長,能夠自我掌控等;受訪者亦表示自設之缺點主要在於耗用人力成本、污染品不易處理、佔用空間、維修不易。然而,受訪者也表示,由於環境的變遷,縮減洗衣房規模以及自設外包合一,應是未來趨勢。

It is a trend to outsource non-core techniques for service industry nowadays. Although not required by the government authority, to control the quality and efficiency of laundry, most international tourist hotels set up and operate their own on-premise laundry. However, the fact that laundry department is not the core business nor the most profitable department of the hotel, has raised the issue of the pro and con for outsourcing laundry recently. To explore this issue, managers in charge of laundry department from 5 major local hotels are interviewed. Results from the interviews show that the interviewers all agree that hotels should have on-premise laundry, ideally. The reasons are quality, efficiency, and sustainability; the drawbacks, however, are labor costs, wastes management, space occupied and maintenance. For the future, the interviewers indicate that balance between self-operated and outsourced laundry is most feasible.
