The summer of 2009 electoral victory of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) over the long-ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) holds historical significance. As a result, DPJ came to the center of Japan's political arena. A series of political reforms such as reforming the political structure and the ranks of government officials have influenced the various aspects of the society. This article analyzes what happens after the DPJ is in power, and provides some recent context to explain what the DPJ try to reform Japan's political system.
