巴爾托克二十世紀上半葉西方最有影響力和創造性的作曲家之一。他最大的成就是從民間音樂中發現真正的創作泉源，然後將民間曲調與西方古典和現代作曲技法融為一體。《小宇宙》是二十世紀上半葉各種風格和各類手法的縮影，它提供在音階、和絃、節奏、和聲等方面的新樣式，被全世界音樂家們所公認不朽的現代鋼琴教材。《小宇宙》是巴爾托克個人音樂創作和美學的象徵，它是現代鋼琴寫作技法與語彙的集大成者，是鋼琴初學者學習現代鋼琴音樂的首選教材。本文期則能使鋼琴演奏與教學者能更進一步了解《小宇宙》，並期盼能燃起愛樂者對《小宇宙》學習的興趣。

Béla Bartók is one of the most influential and creative composers in the first half of the 20th century. His greatest achievement is digging out the primary composing origins from folk music and dexterously melted it into the western classical and modern technique. Mikrokosmos is the miniature of the various styles and new technique of music in the 20th century. It provides many new forms about the scale, the chord, the rhythm, the harmony, etc. The educators all over the world generally acknowledge this book as a valuable modern teaching material of piano. Mikrokosmos is the epitome of the musical creation and personality aesthetics. Mikrokosmos is the culmination of modern composition techniques and languages that are best materials for piano beginners. It is hoped that this paper may serve as a reference for performers, educators and pedagogues and bring up their interest to Mikrokosmos.
