Romanization is a trend globally accepted, and thus the transcription of Chinese characters into Romanized words is employed everywhere. Chinese characters are pronounced and spelled according to some form of Romanization. However, some related ideas are confusing and actually wrong.In this study, I try to clarify some ideas in the transcription of Chinese characters into Romanized words: first, Romanization is a kind of transcription instead of language; secondly, Romanization designates the pronunciation of Chinese instead of English; thirdly, Romanized words do not designate a kind of language; fourth, Romanized words aim to spell Chinese characters instead of any other language.
