The purpose of this research is to use the technology of the geographic information system (GIS) and instability index method and set up quantitative method of landslide potential hazard. It is applied to make cartographic model by GIS. First, cartographic model for different states with suitable construction and landslide susceptibility map are made by analyzing and setting the key environmental factors for hazard sites. Instability index method infers the key environmental factors that lead to landslide events in the past, and which were graded and weighted individually at the same time. Furthermore, it is estimated the range and space distribution situation of landslide susceptibility area by the GIS cartographic modeling. This research classified the phenomenon of landslide before statistical analysis and calculating weight. According to the results to verify the relationship between the factor weight and the main landslide type, less key environmental factors were estimated to set up the range and space distribution situation of landslide susceptibility area.
