The Paradigm Shift of the Interpretation on 2 Cor. 3:6 Is Luther's View out of Date?

This article is to trace the history of the exegetical and theological meaning of the letter/Spirit contrast in 2 Corinthian 3: 6, from the early Church Fathers to Scott J. Hafemann, currently New Testament Professor at Wheaton College, and also offer an argument against the New Perspectives. The letter/Spirit contrast provides a key plank in attempt to understand Paul's view of the Law. Though scholarship on Paul and the Law in the last two decades has witnessed a ”paradigm shift”, the writer insists that the Law/Gospel antithesis inherited form the Reformation is not out of date and the core value of reformation theology has not yet been replaced.
