An innovative steam engine designed by author is proposed. The piston of this engine is made of thick paper. A common acrylic or glass tube is used as the cylinder of this engine. A shunt device of this engine is made of glass or acrylic panels and timber, and the remaining parts are made of timber and paper. School or family standing woodworking tools are needed for building this transparency steam engine and the assembly process can tolerate a considerable tolerance A vacuum cleaner, of which the sucking power is about 150 W~250 W, can drive this engine easily. This engine is quite useful for demonstrating how the steam engines work and for inspiring students interested in thermodynamics.
