具教育目的的小型電波望遠鏡動手作活動

摘要

電波天文學的發展是上個世紀的事，天文學家藉由電波訊號的接收，發現許多以往未曾見過的天體現象，為人類探索宇宙，開啟另一扇門。本文介紹利用現有商用衛星電視設備組裝成小型的電波天文望遠鏡，作為是一個適合在白天進行的天文觀測課程，學員可以從動手作的活動中，學習科學方法與精神，統合數學、物理、天文以及電機、電腦等知識，並瞭解到可見光天文觀測只是現代天文觀測的冰山一角，唯有全方位的觀測才能瞭解宇宙的全貌。

Radio Astronomy has been developed in the last century. Radio astronomers discover many unseen astronomical objects and phenomenon people never saw before by detecting the radio signals from the universe. I will introduce a small radio telescope which based on existing commercially available satellite television equipment. This small radio telescope is an ideal tool for teaching the astronomical observation in the date time. Students can learn scientific method and spirit in the Do It Yourself (DIY) activity and integrate the knowledge of physics, astronomy, engineering principles and computer technique. It allows learners to reinforce the fact that the visible light is indeed just the tip of the iceberg. We only understand the universe via observing with the whole electromagnetic spectrum.
