宗教的生命實踐智慧與通識教育價值的提升

Promoting the Value of General Education with the Practical Wisdom of Religion

摘要


世俗化的大學通識教育已經成為世俗化社會成就公民德行的重要教育方式,但是生活在大學裡的人都很清楚當前通識教育的價值是無法承擔這樣的重責大任。很弔詭地,這是不爭的事實,然而生活在大學裡的人卻個個掩耳盜鈴,知道那是國王的新衣,卻是沒有人願意舉發揭穿。或許舉發揭穿之後,正是壓力的開始,畢竟通識教育所要成就之事,就是做為人的神聖性價值再度復甦,而且做為老師的人必須以身作則,方能成就其事。但是生活在世俗化大學裡的老師們,他們的德行與專業知識早已相互切離,要重新合體,正是要改變教師的生命,何其困難!如果沒有宗教的生命實踐智慧,教師生命是無法改變的,或許願意改變也無法堅持下去,畢竟世俗化的心是易脆的。本文嘗試從宗教的生命實踐智慧論述如何提升通識教育的價值,誠是拋磚引玉,希望引起共鳴,點燃討論與實踐的火花。

Today's higher education has become completely secularized. As a result, general education has become an important way to cultivate the morality of citizens. However, those familiar with higher education know that the current general education system could not fulfill this ideal. This has become an open secret that no one is willing to speak up about. After all, no one wishes to be held accountable for the consequences, since the accomplishment of this ideal relies on educators who are themselves role models of the values they preach, namely, the reawakening of the sacredness of human nature. However, as there has long been a divorce between the morality and expertise of college professors in secularized universities, it would require a significant life change for the professors to marry these two strands again. Without the help of practical religious wisdom, such life changes would be difficult to implement or temporary, since secularized individuals are easily shaken. As such, this paper intends to look at how practical religious wisdom could enhance the value of general education. It is hoped that this paper would invite further discussion and implementation.
