In this study, a novel design of cell sorting system has been presented. The presented cell sorting system consists of cell focusing channel, micropump, Dow sensor, cell sorting and detection module, electronic module, sample storage unit, live cells storage and drain storage. Coupled field analysis of sinusoidal microchannel for cell focusing has been conducted using ANSYS. The length of channel is 1600 μm and internal diameter of channel curve is 15 μm. To investigate the inertial effects during fluid-solid interaction, the solid spheres have been modeled in the channel. The diameter of each object is 3 μm. The driving pressures of 50 kPa, 100 kPa, 150 kPa, 200 kPa, 250 kPa and 300 kPa were applied at the inlet of channel and the outlet pressure was kept 0 kPa. The net force on the solid particles was observed during the fluid flow through the channel. Presented work would provide useful information to develop automatic cell sorting system by eradicating the limitations of conventional sorting systems for biomedical applications.
