Multiple singing styles coexisted in early Yuan Dynasty, whose interactive conflicts and assimilation resulted in changes of music at that time. In the process, Bei Qu(the Northern Tune)emerged as the leading style. Focusing on the early Yuan Dynasty as a special period in the formation of Bei Qu, this paper made a textual research on the various singing styles of the period and explored the musical factors contributing to the rise of Bei Qu, which is academically valuable to furthering our understanding of the history of ancient Chinese music and singing.
