Yun-Lin, Chia-Yi and Tai-Nan are major Tilapia culture counties in Taiwan. By analyzing the 2005 Tilapia production data of their mean of production, Yun-Lin County is the most efficient produce area. Analyzing with Tilapia production data from 2002 to 2006 of their mean of production, Yun-Lin County is also relatively high. The mono-culture area is more than 80% of the total Tilapia culture area in Yin-Lin County, which may be taken as the best reason to explain why the production efficiency of Yun-Lin County is better. The average unit price per weight of Tilapia in Hua-Lian County and average unit output value per area of Hsin-Chu County are the best of Taiwan areas, its reason remains to be discussed. The Tilapia culture and Taiwan aquaculture have more than 50 years of relation. The issue of creating a blue sea strategy of Tilapia culture such as: To keep the total output the same but with higher total revenue, overall control of the supply chain system, and creating standardized modules in the supply chain system could be one of the directions in the future development.
