光風霽月-周濂溪「孔顏樂處」思想之詮釋

周濂溪年三十歲,任官安南時,二程兄弟承父程珦之命曾師事於其門下,並且在授業的過程中,濂溪每令他倆「尋孔顏樂處,所樂何事?」濂溪的用意無非是在時時提醒二程兄弟要懂得反省所學的目的為何。所以,濂溪整個的學說是以尋「孔顏樂處」為核心,且其目的也在於「孔顏樂處」的實踐。濂溪儉約樸實、安貧樂道的生活,可說是實踐自己學說的最佳註腳,因此黃山谷形容他「胸懷灑落,如光風霽月」。另外,程明道也曾對濂溪的生命形象有「吾與點也之意」的體悟感嘆,而「吾與點也之意」正是濂溪「孔顏樂處」的體現。綜上所述,本文乃試圖從「孔顏樂處之尋」、「生命安頓之樂」、「吾與點也之意」等三個向度中,來論證周濂溪對「孔顏樂處」之詮釋。

When Zhou, Lian-Xi was 30 years old and serving as an official in An Nan, the brothers Cheng, Hao and Cheng, Yi, following their father's, Chen, Xiang, instruction to become Zhou's students. While they were studying under him, Lian-Xi often asked the Cheng brothers to discuss what Confucius and Yan Huei were ultimately so happy about. Lian Xi's point was to remind the Cheng brothers to reflect on the question, ”What is the purpose of pursuing one's Studies?” As such, all of Lian-Xi's work took ”The Happiness of Confucius and Yan Huei.” As its foundation, and in all his life's aims Lian-Xi tried to actualize that happiness. From Lian-Xi's life, which was as simple and unadorned as it was content with poverty, one can find the best example of this type of actualization. Because of this, Huang, Shan-gu described Lian Xi as one who was ”generous and open minded, as a light breeze and moonlight.” Additionally, Cheng, Hao also was once quoted praising Lian-Xi's approach to life. One can see that, according to Zeng Dian's so called 'living philosophy,' Lian-Xi indeed actualized the message of ”The Happiness of Confucius and Yan Huei.”In summarizing the story related above, this article seeks to use the messages of ”Observations on Happiness of Confucius and Yan Huei.” ”Happiness' Freedom and Peace of Mind and Body,” and ”Confucius' Praise for Zeng Dian's Meaning,” to critically assess Zhou, Lian-Xi's detailed description of ”The Happiness of Confucius and Yan Huei.”
