Using a Smart Sports Watch to Monitor and Evaluate Warm-Up Exercises

摘要

Doing 15 to 20 min of warm-up exercises is easy to overlook during training, and it is also considered as a routine and usually not easy to evaluate. However, a description of a systematic warm-up plan and a complete method of monitoring and evaluation are necessary. Another problem is defining a "sufficient" warm-up. This study examined "Dr. Metzing's warm-up Method", which combines a detailed plan of static stretching and dynamic exercises, to assess whether it activates the main muscle groups. In this study, a high school athlete employed Dr. Metzing's warm-up Method before strength and conditioning training. The researchers used a smart sports watch to monitor the athlete's heart rates and recorded changes during 13 warm-up sessions to achieve the expected warm-up zone. The 13 heart rate records were divided into the first 6 and last 7 sessions to develop figures for visualizing the changes and the trends. The data showed that the first 6 records indicated an adjudgment period and the last 7 times were more corresponding to research expectations. This study provides a scientific and easy method to understand and monitor warm-up plans at training sites to achieve warm-up goals without wasting much energy, which would hamper intensive training and formal competitions. The overall warm-up program in the coaching process also involves the idea of time management.
