摘要

本文主要討論一六一一年出版的《欽定譯本》。《聖經》是全球讀者最多的一本書，而英文版《聖經》是影響最廣的譯本，其中又以《欽定譯本》影響最大。在《欽定譯本》出現之前，已有許多英文版的譯本。在許多版本的競爭下，《欽定譯本》如何脫穎而出？《欽定譯本》出現之前，《日內瓦譯本》是當時最受歡迎的版本。為何還要出版《欽定譯本》？《欽定譯本》的出現不只有宗教因素，還有濃厚的政治企圖。英國藉由《欽定譯本》的製作過程，產生對自己母語的認同與信心，更形塑了英國的民族發展。

The publication of the King James Bible was due to the religious reasons and the political purposes. England got the identity and confidence in her mother tongue by producing the King James Bible, a project which shaped the development of English nation.
