The Effect of Calculation Conditions on the Results of the Two-Dimensional Lahar Simulation

並列摘要

After a volcanic eruption, thick deposited pyroclastic materials reduces permeability of ground surface, increases surface flow and causes lahar frequently as a result. It is known that lahar hazards assessment by numerical simulation is effective method to mitigate the secondary hazards after the eruption. To obtain results of numerical simulation quickly after the eruption, it is necessary to arrange data set required for the simulation preliminary. However adequate data collecting system are not necessarily constructed in many countries which are located in the Circum-Pan-Pacific volcanic belt, where volcanic disaster frequently occurs. It is important to figure out minimum data set which is necessary to obtain effective results of numerical simulation for lahar hazards mitigation to promote construction of data collecting system there. In this study, lahar hazards assessment by numerical simulation after 2010 Mt. Merapi eruption are conducted by changing combination of data set component in order to find out minimum effective data set. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that the resolution of the DEM is the very important factor to estimate inundation area by lahar simulation. It was shown that compared with the resolution of DEM, waveform of the hydrograph is less important.
