ZnO Nanorods-Based Hybrid Solar Cells Integrated Nanogenerator for Energy Harvesting

In this report, ZnO nanorods-based hybrid dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) were fabricated with converting piezoelectric vibrations into energy harvesting. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the devices can be obviously improved from 3.37% to 3.57%. With driving ultrasonic waves, the hybrid solar produces a short-circuit current as high as 12.05 mA/cm^2, and an open-circuit voltage up to 0.55 V. In this study, the hybrid solar cell with the ZnO nanorods not only improved the efficiency, but was also effective as a direct power source of simultaneously supplying energy about 1.12 nW/mm^2.
