Unfinished Business: Wu Rulun's Investigation of Japanese Education in the Late Qing Dynasty

After the Gengzi National Change in the late Qing Dynasty and the reform of the new education policy, Zhang Baixi was appointed as the Minister of Education, in charge of the country's educational affairs and reform plans. At the same time, Wu Rulun was appointed as the chief teacher of the Imperial University. Wu Rulun went to Japan for four months to investigate education and published "Collected Records of Visiting Japan ", which is reflected to a considerable extent in the "Renyin Educational System" and "Guimao Educational System". It is a pity that the formulation of the "Renyin Educational System" was too hasty, and its own shortcomings and limitations, coupled with the power competition within the Qing court, the unfavorable court situation, and death from illness, were not fully implemented. In the "Guimao Educational System", only It was partially embodied and became Wu Rulun's unfinished business in his later years.
