Developing a System for Deriving Aesthetic Product Shapes Based on Shape Grammar and Kansei Information-the Case of Kettles

並列摘要

This research takes the emotional product design for kettles as an example of integrating the concepts and methods of shape grammar and Kansei information for constructing a system that assists the derivation of aesthetic product shapes. Designers utilize systematic deduction to define rules of shape grammar by which a series of possible product shapes can be computed and derived. Adjectives of emotion are used to assist prediction and selection of appropriate emotional product shapes and styles. The results from the study can assist designers to derive many possible product shapes in the stage of form development. In the stage of evaluation, they can be used to assist creating proposals having creative shapes and styles that are consistent with the concept of Kansei engineering.
