「散打」運動融合眾多的拳術、腿法和摔技,統合具有5000年歷史的中華武術,並經過前人的努力,將其逐漸冠於規則,於是形成了現在家喻戶曉的「散打」運動。「散打」不但是台灣全國運動會的正式項目,更成為了國軍特戰、警察大學的武術必修課程,並列入了2008年北京奧運特色組比賽(非正式項目)和2009年世界運動會獲邀表演項目,台灣在1991年世界錦標賽曾獲三面獎牌的佳績。但近年來台灣的競賽成績卻有逐年下降的趨勢,過去相關文獻大都以整體武術或是相關散打單一技術觀點,缺乏整體且全面性的探討,因此本文從散打運動發展開始介紹,同時將「台灣」與「中國」散打運動進行比較,主要針對選手學習技能、比賽量級、比賽規則、未來發展、升學管道和推廣單位等層面。接著探討臺灣目前推廣所面臨困境,如協會派系眾多、選手學習技能太趨於單項、升段制度不嚴謹、出現斷層、各個協會經費不足,資源整合不易、規則不一、台灣散打運動的選手未來發展受限和師資不足等,並提出具體建議,如由單一窗口辦理散打運動師資培訓以及量級差別縮小等,除了希望將臺灣散打運動發展提昇之外,也提供給相關單位或從事散打運動的教師及社會人士在推廣研究上之參考。
