This article focuses on linguistic variation among oral actors of different generations in Taiwanese Wuzhouyuan 五洲園 puppet theatre. The representatives of the three generations studied here are, in generational order, Huang Haidai 黃海岱, Huang Junxiong 黃俊雄, and Huang Wenze 黃文擇. The critical language data was collected by means of coding the video records. On the basis of language data, we have analyzed the language system and speech style of the oral actors, comparing variations among generations in both quantitative and qualitative aspects.
