The construction of Taichung City goes back to the Qing Dynasty in 1887. However, until 1895 when Japan was ceded to Japan, the city walls and moats were not completed yet. Therefore, strictly speaking, the urban construction of old Taichung City, before the consolidation of Taichung County and Taichung City, has developed for 125 years, starting from the Japanese occupation period until now. The then planning schemes, buildings and parks have all become important leisure and sightseeing assets in Taichung city. In this study, by examining digital historical data, the geographical image of Taichung City during the Japanese occupation (1895~1945) was viewed from a cartographic perspective. For the changes in geographic images, this study examines 100 years of map information in Taichung and constructs the images of Taichung's geographic changes during the Japanese occupation period from the perspective of the map. Besides, the changes of sports, leisure and sightseeing in Taichung City were cross-validated with the historical data from Taiwan Historica's digital archives search system and National Taiwan Library's image system for the books of the Japanese occupation period. It is thus not only to understand what changes have been made, but also to make up for the lack of historical memory and written narratives in Taichung City, enriching the geographical image stories of Taichung City.
