The Influence of the Virtual Game on the Physical Fitness in the Patients with Schizophrenia

摘要

The purpose of this was to investigate the influence of the virtual game Wii on the physical fitness in the patients with schizophrenia. A total of 11 patients with schizophrenia in Pingtung were divided into experimental group (5 patients, two male) and control group (4 male). The average age of experimental group is 49.6±3.0 yrs, average height is 162.5±6.44 cm, average weight is 61.0±14.8 kg. The average age of control group is 49.6±3.0 yrs, average height is 162.5±6.44 cm, average weight is 61.0±14.8 kg. The experimental group was treated a thirty five sessions of Wii Sports training in three months. It's about three times per week. The Wii Sports training included boxing, tennis, baseball, et al. Before and after the training, both groups' physical fitness tests included BMI, grab power, I min sit-up, flexibility, cardiopulmonary endurance et al. The difference of the two groups was tested by ANCOVA. The SPSS 17.0 was used in statistics and the significant value was set as α=.05. The results were showed as below: For the resting heart rate in experimental group, the pre-test was 97.60±6.84, post-test was 85.60±6.98, and there was the significant improvement in experimental group(p<.05). For the flexibility, the pre-test was 21.0±13.5 cm, post-test was 25.4±13.9 cm, and there was the significant improvement in experimental group. For the response ability, the pre-test was23.1±7.33cm, post-test was21.8±6.005 cm, and there was the significant improvement in experimental group(p <.05). For the grab power of right hand, the pre-test was 18.8±11.1 kg, post-test was 23.2±12.4 kg. For the grab power of left hand, the pre-test was 16.1±12.2 kg, post-test was 20.2±12.0 kg, and there was the significant improvement in experimental group(p <.05). The average improvement of each hands grab force of experimental group was 4~5 kg during the three months.
