摘要
中國藝術精神實在於「遊」，但在討論「遊」的藝術精神之前，「藝術」一詞之意涵應先獲得釐清與確定。中國古籍並無「藝術」一詞，「 藝術」之詞乃自西方引入，非中國所固有。在中國古代典籍論及所謂「藝術」問題時，一向是以「文」稱之，而非「藝」。「文」固然不同於「藝」，然而即便中國之「藝」，實際上仍是與西方所謂的「藝術」有些距離。在中國古代，「藝」主要是指生活實用上的某種才能、能力，並不離現實或某種實用層面來說的。中國藝術之精神立足於「遊」凡可遊者，即可親近。而可親近之意，即人之精神可入乎其內而修養生息、自反升進。因而，中國藝術所達之高卓境界，恆非不能透由努力學習而達到的，同時這「遊」之精神，亦確實能貫串中國藝術之各領域層面，文末並藉琴、棋、書、畫等特質之說明加以印證。

The spirit of Chinese art is actually enjoyment, which makes art approachable and makes the spirit able to touch, cultivate, and promote human mind. Learning in enjoyment not only creates the outstanding Chinese art, but also helps us to achieve mastery through a comprehensive study of Chinese art in various fields, which is illustrated and proved in this paper through qin, chess, calligraphy, and painting.
