The Tale of the White Snake, one of China's Four Great Folktales, has always been attached great importance to, and there are many related studies. At present, there's a certain degree of discussion on the rewriting of the Tale of the White Snake. However, it mainly focuses on novels, dramas and movies, but lacks attention on the adaptation of manga and games. I argue that Liu Gong-Lin's "Wang Xiang Bai She", the rewriting of the Tale of the White Snake in the form of manga, as a contemporary popular culture, reflects the changes of social and cultural characteristics, atmosphere and trend of thought. Therefore, this paper analyzes how the text rewrites the Tale of the White Snake, and explores the contemporary significance of the rewriting from the perspective of its influence on the narrative level by taking manga as the medium of narration, and the reflection of the relationship between women and the patriarchal system contained in the popular culture, to expand the vision of the Tale of the White Snake research.
