Aluminum is the most abundant metal element in the earth's crust and is toxic to living creatures. Tea is rich in polyphenols and showing advantageous properties, such as anti-oxidation, anti-radiation, anti-aging, and antimicrobial activities. Tea is one of the few plants that can accumulate aluminum. The avoidance mechanism of aluminum toxicity in tea was mentioned in this review. Additionally, the structural change of aluminum in tea which entering the human digestive system were discussed as well.
