青少年靜態行為與認知表現之文獻回顧

A review on sedentary behaviors and cognitive performance in adolescents

摘要


過去研究已顯示靜態行為與心血管罹病率、全死因死亡率有顯著相關,除影響生理健康外,靜態行為也與個人心理健康狀態有負面相關。世界衛生組織形容青少年時期為生命週期之重要轉變期,其生長與變化空間僅次於嬰兒期。青少年時期係大腦生長之重要關鍵,青少年大腦充滿可塑性與高學習力,因此青少年階段之生活型態與環境刺激更顯重要。臺灣對青少年身體活動建議中,僅提供中高強度身體活動之時間建議,尚未提及靜態行為時間之限制。本研究擬探討青少年靜態行為與認知表現之相關性,以提供政府未來擬定國民健康政策之參考資料。透過電子資料庫蒐集2019年1月前已發表之期刊論文,最後篩選出符合指標之9篇文獻。其研究結果顯示,靜態行為總時間與部分認知面向(如工作記憶)有顯著相關。未來研究可進一步探討不同靜態行為類別對認知表現之效果與機轉。

The associations between sedentary behaviors and cardiovascular morbidity rate and all-cause mortality have been gradually confirmed. In addition to physiological effects, sedentary behaviors are considered to cause damage to mental health. Adolescence is described as an important transition phase of the life cycle by the World Health Organization. It is the key to the growth of the brain. Therefore, the life style and environmental stimulation during adolescence are important. Existing guidelines for adolescents in Taiwan only focus on moderate- to vigorous- physical activity, instead of the limitations of sedentary time. This study aimed to identify the associations between sedentary behaviors and cognitive performance. It would provide more empirical research results as a reference for the government to formulate national health policies in the future. Major electronic databases in English and Chinese were searched before January 2019. Nine quantitative studies met the criteria for reporting the associations between sedentary behaviors and cognitive performance in adolescents. This study showed that total time of sedentary behavior was associated with cognitive performance (such as working memory). Future research should investigate the associations between different modes of sedentary behaviors and cognition with experimental and longitudinal design to better understand the mechanisms of associations and the impacts of sedentary behaviors on cognitive performance.
