This thesis analyzes the relationship between Saṃyukta Āgama (《雜阿含經》, Za'a Han Jing) and Vijñapti-mātratā (唯識, Weishi) from two aspects. First, a two-layered cognitive structure contained in the scriptures can be extracted based on a thorough reading of the Saṃyukta Āgama. The upper layer is the current mind activity, and the lower layer is the records of the past mind. Second, the origin of Yogācāra(瑜伽行派) can be traced back to the teachings and doctrines of early Buddhism and ālaya-vijñāna(阿賴耶識) , which is the core theory of Vijñānavāda (唯識學派) , is just the lower-level mental record of the cognitive structure of the Saṃyukta Āgama. Based on these two arguments, this thesis believes that the Vijñapti-mātratā theory of Yogācāra is highly related to the cognitive structure contained in the Saṃyukta Āgama.
