This study examined fathers' experiences of drug-abuse probation following a 10- week filial therapy model. The study was designed using a qualitative research method. Seven participants joined the group, and 5 contributed to this study. The results included the experiences of the 10-week filial therapy model, participants' self-growth, and the relationship with their children. The findings of this study suggested that the model should include more time for practicing and demonstrating the skills of filial therapy. Moreover, it indicated that the tracking skill and no question-asking rule were difficult to participants, and a portion of the reading homework was beyond their reading ability. Conversely, they experienced how much their children needed them as a father during the play session. The relationship with their children improved, and they understood their children better with more empathy and patience following the 10-week training period. Moreover, the relationship with their spouse improved because the father-child relationship changed. The improvement of the father-child relationship increased their willingness to continue abstaining from drugs and providing a better life for their children.
