摘要

從腸腦神經軸（gut-brain axis, GBA）觀念確立後，神經系統的觀念從中樞、周邊神經系統延伸到腸胃系統，不單單是自主神經系統，交感神經與副交感神經，還包括多重的神經節釋放神經內分泌傳導物質，例如多巴胺與血清素、腎上腺素等。血清素和憂鬱症有關，多巴胺和黑質退化疾病有關，例如巴金森氏症（Parkinson disease）。但是，是什麼原因導致大腦黑質細胞萎縮？腸道系統的狀況和大腦間的退化作用有何種聯繫？腦細胞實質性的退化，在目前，現代醫學沒有辦法治癒而只能症狀控制。中醫另有一套具體可行的治療方法，例舉李政育醫師治療從腸道感染到實質性腦萎縮的巴金森氏症，其治療思路與方法。
