Purpose: This research aimed to discuss perception difference between the different population statistic variables on sport mental toughness and subjective well-being, as well as the prediction effectiveness of sport mental toughness on subjective well-being. Method: The subjects were the male and female participants of the 2010 National college badminton championships, held by the National Chiao-Tung University. According to the committee, 300 questionnaires were sent totally. After excluding invalid ones, 217 of them were retrieved, which made the recovery rate up to 71%. The perception difference was verified via multivariable analysis, while the predictability was by multiple stepwise regressions. Results: There was a significant diversity on sport mental toughness between different gender, academic background and athletic achievements, and the difference of subjective well-being between students from different regions was noticeable as well. Above all, ”positive struggle” in sport mental toughness had the best predictability to subjective well-being. Conclusion: The badminton players in university would experience much more happiness when they expressed higher mental toughness to pursue their goals.
