Technology always plays an important role in the history of music development. The advancements of technology are often reflected on the creation of music; music also reflects the limitation and characteristics of the technology employed. Especially, for the creation of Electroacoustic Music in the 2(superscript nd) half of the 20(superscript th) century, sound technology became the main compositional tool for composers. Sound technology has revealed its crucial impact on many aspects of musical composition; even it plays an increasingly important role and function on the creation of Electroacoustic Music works. During the period of time, from 1948 to 1973, a huge repertoire of electronic music, tape music, concrete music, and computer music has been created. The paper will discuss and examine the role and function of sound technology in the creation of compositions through analzing of some representative electronic and computer music.
