The main purpose of this article was to illustrate the importance of physical fitness (hereafter PF) for individuals with disabilities. An approach of synthesis and induction was employed to review practical and theoretical literature and to construct the dimensions, including the definition and the development of PF, barriers related to participating in physical activities, training principle and exercise prescription of PF for individuals with disabilities. The importance of promoting physical activities and increasing PF for individuals with disabilities were reveled. An exercise prescription for individuals with disabilities was suggested to facilitate the physiological and psychological healthy benefits for these populations.
