摘要


閒置模式運作在IEEE 802.16e行動無線都會區域網路系統中對於節省行動裝置電池電力以及無線頻寬資源方面是個相當重要的環節。為了延長行動裝置在使用方面的續航力,對於網路實體層與媒體存取控制層,目前IEEE 802.16e標準訂定了閒置模式的管理機制與呼叫程序。本文中,我們分析與數學模組化IEEE 802.16e所定義的閒置模式運作行為;並且根據我們所提出的數學分析可以推導出在設計閒置模式上兩個主要的效能評估指標,平均電力耗損量與平均訊框反應延遲時間。事實上這亦是第一個針對IEEE802.16e中閒置模式運作所提出的數學效能分析模型。在進行閒置模式的系統模擬與系統實作之前,我們希望這些由數學公式所形成的效能模型能有助於作為閒置模式設計在前期階段的初步系統規劃與評估。

For saving battery energy of mobile station (MS) and scarce radio resource, the idle mode operation is a significant portion in IEEE 802.16e Mobile Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMAN) system. Current IEEE 802.16e standard specifies the management mechanism of idle mode and the paging procedure at physical (PHY) layer and medium access control (MAC) layer in order to increase life time of a MS. In this paper we analyze and model the idle mode operation in the IEEE 802.16e WMAN system; and two major performance characters in the idle mode operation, average power consumption and average frame response delay, are evaluated based on the proposed mathematical analysis. This work, in fact, is a first-moment mathematical model for the performance analysis of idle mode operation in IEEE 802.16e WMAN system. We expect that these performance models presented by mathematical formulas can be used in initial system planning and evaluation of idle mode design, before progressing the idle mode system simulation and system implementation.
