The design of the painted mask with the application of butterfly pattern

摘要

Taiwan possesses an environment which is favorable for butterfly, but unfortunately, the deforestation and destruction of the ecology have devastated the habitat of butterfly, now it is nearly impossible to witness butterfly in flocks. The theme for this design applies the title which Taiwan has owned for a long time named ＂The Butterfly Kingdom＂. This aims to represent the manner of king which butterfly has. During the process of making, the technique called rollover was applied and the creation was based on the face mask with the brilliant outline and pattern of butterfly. In order to bring out the attractiveness of the face mask, the application of painting techniques combined with diverse materials was conducted. Meanwhile, the animal figures and accessories were used in a hyperbolic way so as to stimulate people's visual senses. Five painted face masks with the manner of king were created and a breakthrough in orthodox makeup with the induction of Fantasy Aesthetic was also utilized in the making so that the surreal realm can be manifested. In addition, this design is served to urge the public to cherish the existent butterfly, our homeland and the surrounding.
