The sample in this research are the four male volleyball teams in 2001 Asian Challenge (Tsin-Tsin Cup), which are Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, and Mainland China. Through statistics analysis approach, we compared the difference in basic volleyball skills between Chinese Taipei and the rest three teams, and reached the conclusions as follows.1. When compared with China, Japan, and Korea, our national team (Chinese Taipei) reveals a downside in spiking (-13.34%), serving (-1.44%), setting (-14.21), and receiving (-4.81%), but has advantage in blocking by 2.17%, and saving by 6.94%.2. As to the difference in basic skills, there is a negative difference in spiking between our national team and Mainland China and Korea (P<.05). There is a distinct positive difference in saving when compared with Japan and Korea. There is no distinct difference as regard to the rest of basic skills (P>. 05).3. In the cross competition among the four teams, results show that the main factor that contributes to the difference in score are differences in spiking ski l1s (β= 0.801) and in blocking skill s (β=0.295). As to the non-scoring skill, only setting skills hast he direct impact on spiking (β=0.995).
