Total Average of Central Batters of Woman Softball: Take National Games in 2009 as Example

摘要

Purpose: This study mainly researches the relationships between on-base percentage plus slugging percentage, the total average of the central batters, and the winning percentage and scores in the woman softball game. Then, the contrast between the diversities of the total average of the central batters in each team is shown. I hope the result can be reference materials of the training and games for the next National Games. Method: The main objects in this study are the 103 fielded batters and the base runners in the eight teams of the woman softball game in the National Games in 2009. After collecting the game records, I give an analysis of descriptive statistics to get the data of total average of central batters, and on-base percentage plus slugging percentage whose data are related to winning average. Then, SPSS 17.0 for Windows is used to carry out the analyses of Pearson product-moment correlation, one-way ANOVA, independent samples, and Scheffé's method. Results: First, the total averages of the central batters of the eight teams, and the winning averages and scores in each team are obviously connected (p< .05). Secondly, the on-base percentage plus slugging percentages of the eight teams, and winning averages and scores in each team are highly related to each other (p< .01). Thirdly, there is no clear difference between the total averages of the central batters in the eight teams (p> .05). Conclusion: Offense is the basis of the scores in softball games. Destructive offense ability leads to the possibility of score raising. And, the high scores enhance the winning average in the teams. Therefore, not only the total averages of the central batters, but also the on-base percentage plus slugging percentages are connected closely with the winning averages and scores in the teams.
