摘要

本文從歷史引述，近代科技文明從十七世紀人類使用煤能源開始興起，藉二十世紀大量使用石油與天然氣而加速發展，並且預期將於二十一世紀因全球能源的枯竭漸漸衰微。今天我們所使用的能源主要是非再生能源，例如煤、石油、天然氣、核能等，它們均遵循產量達峰頂即開始枯竭的特性，在經過幾個世紀大量的消耗後，這些非再生能源都正面臨即將枯竭命運。我們根據未來全球能源總供給量與全球能源每人年均產值，預測全球可能正接近能源供給的枯竭期。因為現今各國政府能源政策的短視，缺乏因應全球能源枯竭趨勢的完整配合措施，未來全球經濟動盪、人口崩潰、能源戰爭爆發與環境惡化等現象都預期將發生。能源枯竭可能是人類文明的轉捩點，使科技文明衰微，人群的生活方式發生重大改變。

Modern technological civilization was originated in the seventh century when mankind started using coal energy. It was accelerated through a large-scale of using oil and natural gas in the twentieth century. It is reaching a declination now because of the depletion of global energy in the twentieth-first century. Coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear energy are all non-renewable energy. They follow the characteristic that once they reach the production peak, the depletion is followed. After a great consumption of these non-renewable energies in the previous few centuries, they are all facing the depletion. Based on the forecast of the global energy supply and the global energy production per capita, the world is probably approaching an energy depletion stage. Due to the lack of aggressive actions and the short-sighted energy policies from the governments in coping with the trend of global energy depletion, the world is expected to have the impacts on the issues of the economic turbulence, the population collapsing, the outbreak of energy war and the deterioration of environments. The depletion of global energy may be a turning point in human history, thus to cause a declination in technological civilization and to result in a great change in human living.
