The Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) Reaction in Embryonic Eyes Cultured on the Chorio-Allantoic Membrane

摘要


移植發育四十八小時的雞胚眼球至八或九天的尿囊絨毛膜(Chorio All-Antoic membrane)上,待其在此膜上生長。由第六天起至第十天止,每天取出此膜上生長的眼球製成切片,並利用同時期的正常眼球為對照,研究其PAS反應。移植的眼球雖然生長良好,但是因為受到尿囊絨毛膜侵入生長之影響,常顯出外形上的異常。但此種異常並不影響眼球,尤其是晶狀體和網膜正常地進行組織分化。晶狀體,網膜和角膜的PAS反應物質的分佈亦正常。

Optic rudiments of 48-hour chick embryos were explanted onto the chorio-allantoic membrane (CAM) of 8-to 9-day host chick embryos. After 6 to 10 days on the membrane, the rudiments were subjected to the periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) reaction and compared with non-cultured eyes of comparable incubation age. The cultured rudiments grew well but often showed gross structural abnormalities because of encroachment of the CAM. Despite these defects, histodifferentiation proceeded normally, particularly in the lens and retina. The distribution of PAS-positive substances was also normal in the lens, retina, and cornea.
