Effects of High Pressure on Experimental Animals (i) Effects of Light Compression on the Respiratory and Circulatory Functions in the Rat

並列摘要

Twelve Sprague-Dawley strain rats were used for determining the effects of compression on their circulatory and respiratory functions as the preliminary work of our studies on the ”High pressure effects' on experimental animals”.A compression-box (25 x 45 x 18 cm.) is used as the pressure source controller and, a polygraph is used as the major unit of recording apparatus. The results obtained indicate that all specimens raised their carotid arterial pressure 30~40 mm.Hg from above normal condition of 130± 25.3 mm, Hg during compressed 0.3~0.5kg./cm.^2 pressure to the animals. As to the respiration, under the above mentioned situation, three animals become more light breathing and stopped their respiratory movement at a interval of 3~15 seconds. When we keep animals continuously at 0.3~0.5 kg./cm^2, pressure condition for 15 minutes. thev did not change their E. C.G., heart beat and respiration, except one, which may be caused by their internal good adaptation. Beside, we found that all of the animals dropped their carotid arterial blood pressure responsible to decompression test, while the respiratory movement of three cases are stopped at intervals.
