台灣熱帶家蚊之生物防治研究第一類:伽瑪射線處理雄蛹的研究

摘要


本實驗顯示台灣熱帶家蚊Culex pipiens fatigans,在蛹期接受伽瑪射線的處理,會產生很高的不孕效果。以10 kr的劑量處理雄蛹,至成蟲時,不孕率高達94.08%,而此11 kr的劑量處理,不孕率更高97.57%。此種高度的不孕率,為蚊蟲生物防治的基本條件。蛹經伽瑪射線照射後,不但對成蟲的生命力沒有影響,而且其與正常雄蚊間對雌蚊的交配競爭能力亦無顯著之差別。此種不孕性在第二週交配的族群中反而提高,這一結果顯示其不孕性有良好的持續力。這種以伽瑪射線對雄蛹處理方法,作為台灣熱帶家蚊的生物防治,在實驗室中確有良好的效果。

Culex pipiens fatigans, the most common mosquitoes in Taiwan, when treated with γ-ray irradiation at pupal stage, the treated males: (1) result in high sterility. The sterilities are 94.08 % and 97.57 % with dosage of 10 kr & 11 kr respectively (Table 1). This high sterility is the basis for biological control of C. p. fatigans (2) either caged alone or cohabited together with normal females show little difference of longevity from normal control group (Table 2). (3) decrease mating ability, the competitiveness is lower than normal on 1: 1 basis, but there is no significant difference at 5% level (Table 3). (4) Three matings were made with 7-days intervals each, the sterilities show no difference among these three matings within 21 days (Table 4). In short, the biological control of C. p. fatigans by using γ-ray irradiation has got satisfactory results in laboratory. It shows high sterility, equal longevity, fair competitiveness and permanence of sterility on treated male mosquitoes.
